Boating License Update – January 6, 2026
Transport Canada has updated Pleasure Craft Licensing (PCL) rules:
- Licenses now valid for 5 years with a $24 service fee
- Changes to boat info or ownership must be reported within 30 days
- Older boat licenses require renewal (1974 or earlier by March 31, 2026)
- NOTE: This applies to your boat license, not your Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Full details and renewal deadlines available from CanBoat.
- Register to drop off Household Hazardous Waste April 18 or May 23
- Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) (check out the March 11th Update)
