Boating License Update – January 6, 2026

Transport Canada has updated Pleasure Craft Licensing (PCL) rules:

  • Licenses now valid for 5 years with a $24 service fee
  • Changes to boat info or ownership must be reported within 30 days
  • Older boat licenses require renewal (1974 or earlier by March 31, 2026)
  • NOTE: This applies to your boat license, not your Pleasure Craft Operator Card.  Full details and renewal deadlines available from CanBoat.
  • Register to drop off Household Hazardous Waste April 18 or May 23 
  • Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) (check out the March 11th Update) 
  • Garbage Update- Green Bins 
  • 2026 Property Tax hike
